The 1st "BGP Cup" Exploration Geophysics Competition for International University Students
1、The background of the competition
Exploration geophysical technology,as one of the most important means for the exploration ofhydrocarbonand mineral resources,is facing new opportunities andchallenges. The complex geological conditions and the expansion of new exploration fields have made the processing and interpretation of exploration geophysical data more and more difficult, and the requirements for exploration geophysical talents have become higher and higher. The "BGP Cup"InternationalUniversity Student Exploration Geophysics Competition aims to exercise and improve the overall quality of students and the ability to comprehensively use professional knowledge of exploration geophysics, and cultivate innovative, applied and international talents suitable for enterprises and social needs. The "BGP Cup"UniversityStudent Exploration Geophysics Competition has been successfully held for eight sessionsin China. The numberof participating teamsandthe level of participants haveimproved over the past years. It has become a brand event in the domestic exploration geophysics field. The competition has improved the students' ability to combine theory and practice, strengthened the exchanges andcooperation between schools, scientific research units and enterprises, and is of great significance to the promotion of the discipline construction and personnel training of exploration geophysics-related majors in various universities. This event has received extensive attention from enterprises, academia and society.During the finals of the 8th Competition, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciencesprof. Zhu Rixiang,General Managerof CNPC Oriental Geophysical Exploration Co., Ltd. Mr. Gou Liang, Executive Director of SEG China prof. Huang Xuriattended the award ceremony. China Central Televisionalso gave a special coverage of the eventwhichreceived good social response. In order tocultivate leading talentsworldwidein the field of exploration geophysics,and build aninternational exchange platform for university students,in October-November 2021, the 1st"BGP Cup" International University Student Exploration Geophysics Competition (9th National University Student Exploration Geophysics Competition)will be held in Beijing and online with the theme ofseismic data processing. Faced with the great challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic in this information age, young people around the world should enhance exchange and show theirpersonalability andprofessionalskills on suchan internationalplatform. There will be 3sessions:software training and group project, final competition, "cloud" award ceremony. We sincerely invite young people in related area to join us in this event.

b. From 26thof September-25thof October:software training, group project and report submission
c. Around 30thof October: final defense and “cloud” award ceremony (online).

3、 Participants
The foreign race track adopts the invitation system, and the participating team consists of 2-3 people and is equipped with 1 instructor. Bachelors, masters and PhD students from universities and research institutes are welcome to participate through theiruniversity or SEG student branch.
4、Entry requirements
All colleges and universities shall sign up in the name of the unit. Please send the registration form to 2512775124@qq.com before 27th of September, 2021.The email should indicate: the registration status of the"BGP Cup"in 2021 + the name of the school.
5、Contest content
a. Training phase
Training location:online;
Training time:September-October;
Participants: Invited teams from foreign universities to participate.
b. The final stage
The finals are held in participating universities, the processing report is finally submitted to the competition jury, and thefinal defenseand awards ceremony are conducted online.
6、 Review mechanism
Participating teams from foreign race tracks select special prizes, first prizes, second prizes and outstanding participation prizes.
